Interested in Directing?

Cast Auditions, Rehearsals and Performances:

You'll be so excited to take part in this innovative theatre experience, right here in our own backyard - you'll work with outstanding local talent, enjoy a shorter time commitment for both rehearsals and performances, without a long commute to Walnut Creek or San Francisco. On top of that, you'll have the support of Ghostlight Theatre Ensemble's Board of Directors as needed.
FESTIVAL 10 - A Treasury of 10-Minute Plays will be comprised of numerous short plays, including both published and unpublished works. Each play will have its own director and cast - some cast members might appear in more than one play, and directors are welcome to audition for plays as well, enabling them to perform if they choose.

If you would like to direct one of the plays, please email Helen Dixon at by 8pm on December 9th, and include a cover letter explaining your interest in directing for FESTIVAL 10, and attach a resume that details your experience with theatre, including any directing experience if applicable, as well as detailing your experience as a performer and/or any experience in technical theatre / stagecraft / production. Note that directing experience is NOT required - this is a great way to dip your toe in the water! Be sure to include your email address and cell number so that we can contact you.
  • Ghostlight Theatre Ensemble will coordinate auditions for ALL plays in the festival. Auditions will be held in January - the specific audition dates will be determined soon. Directors need to be at the auditions. Monologues will be available in early January.
  • Rehearsal schedules will be developed by each director, in coordination with his or her cast.
  • Performances will be held at the Brentwood Community Center in Brentwood on Friday, March 27th, Saturday, March 28th and Sunday March 29th.
  • All plays will be performed black box style, in an arena-style / theatre-in-the-round setting, with minimal set pieces.
Candidate materials will be reviewed, and Helen will contact all candidates once directors have been chosen. The selected directors will be sent all of the play scripts to read. After the scripts have been sent to the selected directors, the directors will be matched to plays based on requests made to Requests will be granted on a first-come, first served basis, so you'll want to read the plays quickly.
