If you are a theatre director, OR if you have always wanted to direct for the stage, but haven't yet found the right opportunity, you'll want to apply to be a director for FESTIVAL 10 (2.0), our 10-minute play festival!
Cast Auditions, Rehearsals and Performances:
You'll be so excited to take part in this innovative theatre experience, right here in our own backyard - you'll work with outstanding local talent, enjoy a shorter time commitment for both rehearsals and performances, without a long commute to Walnut Creek or San Francisco. On top of that, you'll have the support of Ghostlight Theatre Ensemble's Board of Directors as needed.
FESTIVAL 10 (2.0) will be comprised of numerous short plays, including both published and unpublished works. Each play will have its own director and cast - some cast members might appear in more than one play, and directors are welcome to audition for plays as well, enabling them to perform if they choose.
Questions and Next Steps:
We had planned to perform this show in 2020 or 2021, but due to the pandemic, we were unable to do so - so we are trying again for 2022! As such, many of our plays already have directors, but because a lot changes in 2 years time, not all directors have been able to commit to this year's production. As a result, we are actively seeking at least 5 new directors, and will also be auditioning for some roles in January 2022!
Equity, Diversity & Inclusion:
Ghostlight Theatre Ensemble encourages all community members to participate in Ghostlight productions. We believe that local live theatre should provide a supportive environment for creative expression for people of all genders, ethnicities and backgrounds. Every day, we work to ensure that Ghostlight is a safe, welcoming space where all members of our cast, creative team, production crew, volunteers and audience members can learn, grow, and create.
We are proactively working towards greater diversity within the cast of our shows. This is an on-going process, and we recognize that it is our responsibility to broaden our reach to ensure that BIPOC and LGBTQ+ community members are aware of upcoming auditions, and to ensure that they feel welcome to join our productions. We are also broadening our reach to attract BIPOC directors and production team members. We know this can make a significant difference in generating greater diversity at our auditions.
